Nikolay Makarov

Calligraphy artist from Tyumen, Russia. Participant of the project, dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of a great Georgian poet and writer Vazha Pshavela (2011).

Was born in Bologoe, Kalinin (Tver) Region, on April 6, 1962. He has lived in Tyumen since 1967.

In 1979 he entered the Tyumen Arts School, Artistic Department.

In 1985 having finished studies, he was a professor of the Artistic and Design Department (currently – Design Department) of the Tyumen Arts School. He dealt with different subjects, including drawing, font, color studies, model making, composition, design, etc.

Since 1997 member of the Russian Designers’ Union, participant in exhibitions held by the Union. In the same year, he won a diploma of the Victoria Russian National Design Award in the same year, at Design 97 Exhibition in Moscow, for a series of graphic work made in calligraphy technique.

In 1999 graduated from the Tyumen Branch of the Urals ГАХА, Design College, majoring in design.

In 2000 he got a diploma of the Victoria Russian National Design Award in the Environmental Design category.

2001-2007 participant of the Golden Flea exhibitions in Tula.

At present, he is Assistant Professor in the Chair of Environment and Graphic Design, Tyumen Branch, Urals ГАХА, Design Institute, and simultaneously, professor in the Design Department, Tyumen College of Arts.
