Nadezhda Pavlova
Calligraphy artist from St. Petersburg, Russia. Participant of the project, dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of a great Georgian poet and writer Vazha Pshavela (2011).
Calligrapher, Assistant Professor of the Communicative Design Chair, St. Petersburg Artistic and Industrial Academy; member of the Union of Russia’s Artists.
Was born in Leningrad in 1953.
She started to study calligraphy in one of the oldest schools of the city – school No. 203 (formerly Аnnenshule), where the traditions of the pre-revolutionary classical calligraphy were still alive. She studied in Artistic Lyceum No. 190.
She graduated from V.I. Mukhina Leningrad High School of Art and Industry (now St Petersburg State art and Industrial Academy)in 1978, Division of Industrial Graphic Art and Packing. For several years, she has worked in the Design Office and in the Scientific Research Sector of Leningrad High School of Art and Industry.
She graduated from postgraduate studies and defended her candidate’s thesis in graphic design theory in 1994. She is Assistant Professor of the Communicative Design Chair, A.L. Shtiglits St. Petersburg National Artistic and Industrial Academy. She teaches Font and Calligraphy. She is an author of scientific articles in graphic design and font art, member of the Russian Union of Artists. She took part in many artistic exhibitions in this country and abroad.
